Watch Matthew Slater’s epic postgame speech to Patriots after win

After most New England Patriots’ wins, Matthew Slater addresses the team in formulaic fashion. He often highlights a few positives from the game before asking the Patriots players how they feel about being 11-5 (or whatever their record is at that time).

After this particular win, Slater took a different tact. While it’s unclear from the video below which game it’s after, it is likely from New England’s playoff matchup against the Chargers.

“Years from now, we’re going to be somewhere, sitting back, feet kicked up. And someone’s going to ask us, ‘Tell me about the ’18 team,'” Slater told his teammates in the locker room after defeating the Chargers, via video from Fox Sports 1’s “Turning Point.” “Don’t forget what it felt like when they told you: ‘You’re not good enough. You shouldn’t be here. You’re old.’ Right, T [Tom Brady]?”

Brady smiled and said, “Still here, baby.”

Correction: An earlier version of this story stated this speech was delivered after Super Bowl LIII.
