Watch: Matt Prater nails 59-yard field goal to save Lions against Washington

The Detroit Lions had seen a 24-3 lead evaporate. Alex Smith led a drive that resulted in a Washington Football Team field goal that tied the game at 27-27 deep in the fourth quarter. Would this be another awful loss for Matt Patricia?

Matt Prater to the rescue. Watch as the Lions’ kicker blasts a 59-yard field goal straight through the uprights to give Detroit a 30-27 victory on Sunday.

The kick spoiled Alex Smith’s first start in 728 days. The Comeback Player of the Year candidate led an amazing rally as the WFT erased a 24-point deficit.

Smith was 38-of-55 for 390 yards in the loss.
