Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Mason Rudolph apologized on Wednesday for his role in the on-field brawl between him and Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett.
Rudolph spoke to reporters for the first time since the Thursday Night Football fight on Nov. 14, reading a prepared statement before answering questions.
He said that he fell short of the expectation that comes with representing the Pittsburgh Steelers, a “first-class organization.” He also acknowledged that he put his teammates in a tough spot as he got into it with Garrett, specifically mentioning Maurkice Pouncey, who was handed a three-game suspension for his involvement in the fight.
Rudolph has not been suspended but will pay a fine, presumably the standard $35,096 for a first-time fighting violation.
