Watch: Man City starlet Phil Foden warms up for new season as he plays football golf

Manchester City starlet Phil Foden was spotted sharpening his skills ahead of the new season at a football golf course.

Some of his Blues teammates are back in pre-season training however the 19-year-old gets an extended break as he was involved in this summer's Under-21 Euros with England.

But he already has one eye firmly on the new campaign after being spotted making his way around a full 18 holes at a football golf course in Cornwall.

The Stockport lad wowed locals in St Austell as he spent several hours playing the novelty game, based on golf but in which you use your feet instead of a club, and full size football instead of a golf ball which has to deposited in a series of holes.

Accompanied by his girlfriend and his new baby, Phil mixed and played with local kids including one young City fan who says the youngster is his "idol."

Course manager Lauren Bennett told Cornwall Live : "It was amazing to meet Phil. He’s still a football-mad kid really - he was playing for about five hours.

"Unexpectedly he played all afternoon with some of our local players and he has made a memory that will stay with all them for life.

"Local boy Nathan Robinson, who is 10 and from St Austell, was over the moon to play with one of his idols and was so happy to get some tips from a Premier League winner and England player."

Owner Tony Robinson , who set up the business in 2014 and is Nathan's dad, said: "His driver gave us a call in the morning to say he wanted to come and play. He was with his girlfriend and their baby. They stayed around the clubhouse area and he asked if he could just join the people playing.

"The other players were in disbelief - local St Austell people who came up for a game and there's a Premier League winner," he said.

My son came after school and played 18 holes with him. He was star-struck and blown away.

"I guess Phil has just played in the European Championships a couple of weeks ago and has some time off before heading back to training."

In the video you can watch at the top of this story, Foden sends a couple of shots past a cut-out goalie. But the best part is the expression on his face as he turns to the camera when 17-year-old Charlotte Whitmore, who works at Cornwall  Football Golf and plays for St Austell Football Club, arguably goes one better by smashing the ball to the back of the net on the other side.

The venue recently staged the Football Golf World Championships last month.

Cornwall Football Golf posted on Facebook, in sharing the video: "Amazing to have 2019 Premier League winner Phil Foden spend yesterday afternoon with us at Cornwall Football Golf.

"By unexpectedly playing both the Hillside and Parkland courses with some of our local players you made it a day they will never forget.

"(laughing emojis) Your face in this film when our very own Charlotte Whitmore goes one better and smashes in the top bins on the 18th….

"Thanks for playing you were a star."
