Authorities in the Dominican Republic say they have arrested the man behind the shooting of former Boston Red Sox star David Ortiz.
Victor Hugo Gomez hired a gunman to shoot his cousin, Sixto David Fernandez, according to police. Fernandez and Ortiz are friends and were sharing a table at a bar on June 9, when the shooter mistook the Boston baseball great for Fernandez and shot Ortiz in the back, leaving Fernandez unharmed.
Authorities said last week that they believed Gomez was living in the United States, but he was detained in the Caribbean country of the Dominican Republic on Friday.
