With playmakers all over the field, it was a backup who scored the first touchdown of the season for the Los Angeles Rams. After the Rams recovered a fumble after a backwards pass by Cam Newton, Malcolm Brown trotted out on the field for the ensuing drive.
He carried it twice, gaining 5 yards on each play – the second of which went for a touchdown.
The score put the Rams up 10-0 over the Panthers early in the second quarter.
Fantasy owners were surely disappointed to see Brown score the touchdown instead of Todd Gurley, who entered this week hoping to silence some of the concerns about his knee. He played on the first few drives, but Brown spelled him on this possession.
