Watch 'magical' moment young Phoenix Park deer tries to communicate with videographer

This is the "magical moment" a young videographer and part-time animal whisperer left onlookers spellbound when a group of Phoenix Park deer went out of their way to "communicate" with him.

Dublin Live's own Doctor Doolittle, Andy "Antler" Byrne was driving through the famous old park with intrepid crime reporter Niall O'Connor, a Corkman.

Niall told us (through an interpreter) that he had never seen animals so attracted to a human.

He said: "It was just amazing. This cocky young buck seemed to be drawn to young Andy like a fish to water - but not Dublin water, as it's more than likely doomed if this sewage plant in north Dublin gets the go-ahead.

"No - this was more like a nice healthy fish being drawn to the clear, pristine waters off the south west coast.

"Honestly - I've never seen anything like it. He clearly wanted to communicate with our Andy. It was a magical moment."

Niall added that once he tried to join in, the animals fled in a panic. He added that he had heard that "jackeen deer are known to only approach fellow Dubs".
