WATCH: Lonzo Ball working on jumper with Jimmy Butler’s trainer, Chris Johnson

As Lonzo Ball continues his off-season work, the Pelicans guard made a cameo appearance in a new location he hasn’t been seen before. Ball was shown on Chris Johnson’s Instagram. While that name likely doesn’t ring any bells right away, Johnson has a long, long list of current and former clients, highlighted by Jimmy Butler.

In September of 2016, Johnson was interviewed by Sports Illustrated’s Andrew Sharp about his off-season work with Butler. At that time, Johnson’s list of clients in the article included Harrison Barnes, Doug McDermott, Corey Brewer, Taj Gibson, Victor Oladipo, Jaylen Brown, Jerami Grant and Tony Snell.

Even on Wednesday, Johnson’s Instagram story featured a scattering of current and prospective NBA players like Tristan Thompson, Tyrese Maxey, Delon Wright and Trey Lyles working out in the same gym. As for Ball, the 60-second video shows him getting up shots with his new shooting form.

Also interesting is that Brandon Cavanaugh, a Klutch Sports agent, was with Ball in the gym as well. Ball only officially joined Klutch Sports this week, though he announced the partnership himself multiple weeks ago.

Ball’s off-season has already included workouts with fellow Klutch client Trae Young on Malibu sandhills. As far as on-court workouts go, Ball getting shots up this off-season will hold a little extra value than normal given how much change his jumper has undergone in the last year. Repetition will be particularly important this off-season because of that.
