The Zo-Zion show is officially underway in New Orleans, and the young duo did not disappoint in their first game together. When the Pelicans visited the Atlanta Hawks for their preseason opener on Monday, Lonzo Ball and Zion Williamson teamed up for the highlight of the night, and arguably the preseason.
Ball started things off by blocking John Collins at the rim and pushing the ball down the court. After a quick give-and-go with his new backcourt partner, Jrue Holiday, Ball dropped it off to Williamson, who threw down a monster slam off two feet.
In other words, they did exactly what Pelicans fans expected them to do.
Williamson will rightfully be the star of the replay that promises to be heavily circulated over the next 24 hours. But that play doesn’t happen without Ball’s shot-blocking and playmaking instincts. Considering most of Zion’s high-flying dunks will come in transition, he and Ball will be perfect together.
