WATCH: Lonzo Ball shows off drastically different shooting form

On the first day training camp for the New Orleans Pelicans, newly-acquired guard Lonzo Ball showed off a new shooting form that is a drastic change from the unique style fans had grown accustomed to seeing from Ball.

After years of having a shot that came from the left side of his body across to the right side before releasing, a shooting stroke that had mixed results, the Pelicans posted a video to their Twitter account showing a completely reworked shot that goes straight up and down.

The shot still has a relatively low starting point but it’s also the most drastic change Ball has made to his shot during the summer. While he spent most of the summer rehabbing, Ball clearly also spent a good chunk of the summer refining his jumper.

It’s also worth noting that these are mid-range jumpers Ball is shooting. While it should be the same shooting motion regardless of the area of the court, with a player who has a shot as unique as Ball’s it could be a baby step toward a reworked shot. Even if it’s just something Ball is doing in practice right now, it’s a form unlike any he’s been recorded doing before.
