Boris Johnson has said the coronavirus tide can be turned in the next 12 weeks.
The Prime Minister made the commitment in his latest briefing to the nation after the total number of deaths related to Covid-19 in the UK rose to 137.
NHS England confirmed that 29 more people died in England - one of those in the North East.
A statement from NHS England said: “A further 29 people who tested positive for the coronavirus (Covid-19) have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in England to 128.
“Patients were aged between 47 and 96 years old and had underlying health conditions.
“Their families have been informed.”
