Titans linebacker Derrick Morgan shared Monday morning that, after nine years in the NFL — all with Tennessee — he’s retiring from football.
He wrote in a post for The Players’ Tribune published Monday that, heading into the 2018 season, he had a feeling it would be his last. Morgan cites difficulty keeping his body in playing shape as just one of a few reasons he was ready to hang up the cleats.
Morgan also wrote that he’s ready to transition into the next phase of his life, which will focus on creating opportunities for the underserved and overlooked.
The Pennsylvania native, who started out as a defensive end before transitioning to linebacker in 2014, finishes his NFL career with 44.5 sacks — good enough for sixth in franchise history.
