WATCH: LiAngelo Ball jokes about China incident, says they invited him back

Lonzo Ball, his business manager Darren “DMO” Moore and his younger brother LiAngelo Ball went on a spontaneous camping trip in the latest episode of “Ball in the Family.”

During that camping trip, Lonzo, LiAngelo and DMO huddled around the campfire to watch LiAngelo try his first-ever s’more —a snack made up of a graham cracker, a chocolate bar and a marshmallow.

When LiAngelo took his first bite, he said it tasted like a mooncake, which led to a conversation about LiAngelo’s controversial trip to China in 2017:

LiAngelo: “It’s a mooncake, bro. That’s really what it is.”

DMO: “What the [expletive] is a mooncake? I ain’t never heard of that. I ain’t never heard of a mooncake.”

LiAngelo: “That’s cause y’all ain’t been to China.”

Lonzo: “We know you been there.”

LiAngelo“That’s what I was eating in prison.”

Lonzo: “Can you go back?”

DMO: “They feed you mooncake in prison?

LiAngelo: “Nah, they brought me those cause I didn’t eat they food. They cool out there, bro. They told me to come back.”

The conversation was light-hearted, but the situation they were joking around about was anything but that.

LiAngelo was famously arrested for shoplifting during his trip to China with the UCLA basketball team in 2017. His arrest was national news and — depending on who you ask — eventually needed the intervention of the sitting President of the United States Donald J. Trump.

Two years removed from the incident, it’s something that LiAngelo and his family can laugh on, but it’s worth questioning whether or not it’s something they should be laughing about.
