Watch: Liam Neeson stars in new film Made in Italy alongside his son Micheál Richardson

Liam Neeson will star alongside his son in a new upcoming film based on a story about an estranged father and son.

The Ballymena native will take to the big screen alongside his son Micheál Richardson in the James D’Arcy filck Made in Italy.

Speaking about how the role came to fruition, Neeson told Entertainment Weekly : "[It] came about not through an agent shoehorning you into doing a script because it will show another facet of your career."

"James D’Arcy got in touch with me through my English agent and she said, 'Listen, I think you should read this, there’s something to it.' I did and I sort of fell in love with it, and she said, 'Maybe this is something good for you and Micheál, your son.' And so it was kind of fate, I just felt like I had to do it."

A trailer for the movie shows Neeson and his son attempting to work together to fix up an old family property in Tuscany which has certainly seen better days. The film follows the trials and tribulations of their relationship and the heartbreaking memories the house holds for the pair.

Made in Italy is due for release in cinemas on August 7, 2020.
