WATCH: LeBron James unboxes his new Nike LeBron 17’s for the first time

LeBron James opened his new Nike LeBron 17’s for the first time on Monday and shared the unboxing on his Instagram story. After peeling open the outer box and pulling out a visual history of each signature LeBron sneaker to hit the market throughout his career, LeBron finally unboxes a pair of the 17’s in the “Future Air” colorway.

According to SNKRS, the LeBron 17 “Future Air” offers a window into the next phase of Nike’s game-changing technology. The shoe incorporates both Air Max and Zoom Air and is detailed in bright orange. It features first-for-the-court cushioning as well, which continues LeBron’s air-enabled lineage.

The LeBron 17 “Future Air” will be released on September 27 at 10 a.m. ET for a retail price of $200. According to Nike, a couple of the features that make this shoe unique are that it has the highest-volume heel Max Air unit in a LeBron shoe and that it introduces Knitposite technology. According to designer Jason Petrie, it was all part of Nike’s ultimate goal to deliver the very best a sneaker could offer to help support LeBron’s game.

“We had ‘the blueprint’ in mind for the 17, and we started from the ground up on everything, whether that was the construction of the knit or the way we could protect him underfoot with Air bags,” says Nike’s Jason Petrie, designer of the LEBRON XVII. “The silhouette was a way to reset the mark for LeBron, and futuristically explore how we could help his game with the best that Nike offers.”
