David Sills, who was once dubbed the “LeBron James of football” has signed with the Buffalo Bills as an undrafted free agent. Sills earned the nickname back in 2010 when then-USC head coach Lane Kiffin offered the seventh-grade quarterback a scholarship at just 13 years old.
However, Kiffin was fired in 2013 and his successor, Steve Sarkisian, told Sills he would never play at USC. He ended up at West Virginia — twice, actually. Sills transferred from West Virginia to a USC-adjacent junior college for a year — then returned to West Virginia and transitioned to wide receiver to get more time on the field.
The move seems to have worked out for Sills as he led the Big 12 in touchdown catches last season and is now off to the NFL.
