WATCH: LaVar Ball says LeBron James won’t win title without Lonzo Ball

The trade deadline came and went and Lonzo Ball is still on the Los Angeles Lakers, which is good news for LeBron James, according to LaVar Ball.

During an appearance of Fox Sports 1’s “Undisputed,” LaVar claimed that LeBron needs Lonzo if he wants to win a championship in Los Angeles:

“They trade my son, they will never win a championship ’cause what they’re trying to do is be the one hitter quitter. They’re trying to get all these players to try and win a championship … ain’t players, it’s the coach. You don’t have the coach, you out of luck. So you can get as many players as you want, if you don’t have a system or you don’t understand what you’re getting ready to do, you’re not going to win. You can get everyone that’s good.”

“LeBron James without Lonzo is not going to win a championship in L.A. I guarantee that.”

At the age of 21 years old, Lonzo is already one of the better rebounding, passing and defending point guards in the NBA, but he hasn’t done anything to suggest that he can be the second or third-best player on a championship team. In other words, there’s no reason to believe James can’t win a championship without James.

However, it can be said that James needs Ball to be successful this season. Despite the fact that Rondo is a four-time All-Star, Lonzo has established himself as the Lakers’ best option at point guard this season and, more importantly, the point guard that fits best next to James.

If a trade comes along that would allow the Lakers to trade for a superstar player like Davis, Ball might be dangled in trade talks again, but until that happens, James needs Ball back on the court as soon as possible.
