For NBA fans looking toward the future and the 2020 NBA Draft, LaMelo Ball may have given an early signal as to where he prefers to land once entering the NBA.
On Friday, Ball posted a series of short videos to his Instagram story of his created MyPlayer for NBA 2K20 on the New York Knicks. Likely not coincidentally, the Knicks figure to be one of the worst teams in the league and one of the potential favorites to land Ball next June.
Ball was recently placed at +420 odds to be the top pick in the 2020 NBA Draft, though that comes before the start of the college basketball season. Still, with DraftExpress ranking him inside their top five, Ball will be in the conversation for the top pick.
As for the Knicks, early returns are what most expected from New York’s franchise as the team is off to an 0-2 start after a loss to the Brooklyn Nets on Friday. Even more, the Knicks have a hole in the backcourt with Frank Ntilikina having disappointed early in his career and Dennis Smith Jr. not starting to open the year.
Was it intentional, then, that Ball’s character just happened to end up on one of the most popular franchises in the league and he just happened to share it with the world? Only time will tell.
