As LaMelo Ball has acclimated to his new league and country, he’s slowly become more and more comfortable on the court. The result of this has been flashier and flashier passes in recent games, none flashier than Monday’s dime.
Early in the first quarter in Illawarra’s game against Adelaide, Ball split a pair of defenders with a behind-the-back dribble before an even fancier and more gorgeous behind-the-back pass to Josh Boone. Unlike in previous highlight moments this season, Boone finished the dunk this time to cap off one of the Hawks’ best plays of the young season.
Unfortunately, this highlight wasn’t enough for the Hawks on the night as they fell to 1-4 on the year with another close loss, falling to the 36ers 98-92.
Ball finished with seven assists on the night, one off his season high and the second time this season he’s recorded seven assists. Through five games, Ball is averaging 5.6 assists compared to just 1.6 turnovers.
The Hawks will be back in action on Thursday in one of the premier showdowns of the season against RJ Hampton and the Breakers.
