Watch: Kyle Shanahan draws up play for NFL Network hosts to run

49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan is an offensive wizard. It gets lost sometimes since the 49ers have 10 wins in the last two seasons, and most of their games have come with backups under center. However, his prowess was on display in a segment on NFL Network’s ‘Good Morning Football.’ He drew up a play he thinks the Rams will use in their Super Bowl matchup with the Rams. Then the GMFB crew ran it to perfection.

It seems pretty mundane, but it’s incredible how quickly Shanahan picked a play and formation that used only the four people he had available. Then he zooms through the diagramming while explaining what the offense is doing and anticipating what each action will force the defense to do.

While the hype surrounds Sean McVay for his quick turnaround of the Rams, it’s worth remembering that Shanahan also exists within the NFC West. Quick videos like this offer a reminder of how talented Shanahan is as a play caller, and what could be in store for the 49ers once they roll out a healthy roster.
