NEW DELHI: Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) skipper KL Rahul exhibited a remarkable display of fielding prowess by taking a splendid diving catch on his second attempt, resulting in the dismissal of Delhi Capitals (DC) batter Shai Hope in the IPL match.
Rahul's reflexes and agility were on full display as he lunged to grasp the ball, ensuring that Hope had to depart. Such moments of brilliance can shift the momentum of a game, and Rahul's effort did just that.
The crowd and his teammates applauded the catch, recognising the difficulty and the finesse with which it was executed.
The incident happened in the 9th over of the innings when LSG leggie Ravi Bishnoi came up with a flatter delivery, which was pitched outside off, and Hope freed his arms as he slapped it hard straight to cover where Rahul was stationed, but the ball came around chest height as he had to take it in an awkward position, and the ball popped out, went to his right, but an alert Rahul moved quickly, diving to his right, and grabbed the ball with both hands before it hit the ground.
Earlier, Lucknow Super Giants skipper Rahul won the toss and opted to bowl against DC in their must-win IPL match at Delhi's Arun Jaitley Stadium on Tuesday.
Rishabh Pant returned to lead DC after serving his one-match suspension, along with Gulbadin Naib. However, David Warner and Prithvi Shaw were absent from the lineup.
Meanwhile, LSG made two changes, introducing Arshad Khan and Yudhvir Singh into their playing XI.
