Watch: Kirby Smart to players in locker room – ‘We can wreak a lot of havoc’

Following Georgia’s win over Arkansas State on Saturday, Kirby Smart spoke with his players in the locker room about what impressed him from his team.

Smart complimented wide receiver Lawrence Cager on his blocking, saying he had 3-4 “really big blocks” that did/can lead to touchdowns.

He also gave the defensive line props, following a game in which Georgia had four sacks and only allowed 43 rushing yards.

“We can be a special team when everybody buys in,” Smart said. “When we can do that, guys, we can wreak a lot of havoc.”

Smart talked all offseason about wanting to create more chaos in the backfield this year. Last season, plays behind the line of scrimmage were nowhere to be found. Now, it looks like Smart’s offseason focus paid off. Through three games, Georgia is ninth in the nation with 12 sacks.

The Bulldogs defense also has 21 tackles for loss, an average of seven per game. Last year, Georgia ranked 116th in the nation with 4.6 tackles for loss per game.
