After just three seasons as head coach of the Sacramento Kings, Dave Joerger is out. In a Thursday press release, Kings general manager Vlade Divac said, “After evaluating the season, I determined that we need to move in a different direction in order to take us to the next level.”
The team finished 39-43 this year, its best record since the 2005-06 season. That’s also the last time the Kings made the playoffs. Joerger was starting to turn heads this year for what he was doing with the franchise’s young core — including Marvin Bagley III, Buddy Hield and — improving upon last year’s record by 12 wins.
