Kevin Durant weighed in on his injury via Instagram Wednesday. Durant posted a picture from his hospital bed following surgery, which he called a success, and confirmed that he’d ruptured his Achilles playing in Game 5 of the NBA Finals Monday night.
Durant’s post said, in part, “Like I said Monday, I’m hurting deeply, but I’m OK. Basketball is my biggest love and I wanted to be out there that night because that’s what I do. I wanted to help my teammates on our quest for the three-peat.”
Durant said that the injury is “just the way things go in this game,” and explained that he was proud he gave his all physically for Golden State in its one-point win, adding that he’ll be cheering the team on in Game 6. The Toronto Raptors lead the Warriors 3-2 ahead of tip off Thursday.
