Watch: Kerryon Johnson is latest Lion featured on ‘Under the Helmet’

The Detroit Lions Michigan Emmy winning documentary series “Under the Helmet” premieres a new episode at Ford Field ahead of every home game. So far this season, the series has featured Romeo Okwara, and Quandre Diggs, and next up is Kerryon Johnson.

For those unfamiliar with the series, it is led by Dustyn Blindert (Senior New Media Producer) and Eamonn Reynolds (Director of Football Communications), and it looks at Lions player’s lives off-the-field, giving fans a unique perspective on who the players are as individuals.

The video opens with Johnson sitting with some school-aged children and one young girl asks him, “are you famous?” Johnson asks her what she thinks and she replies “yes” and he humbly responds with a head shake “no.”

Johnson then talks to the camera about his parents — assuredly where his humbleness comes from — how they’ve always been involved in community outreach and now that he’s in the NFL, they have a chance to do it on a larger scale. Johnson goes on to share how he and his family are impacting communities in his hometown, the Bahamas and more.

The video continues with Johnson talking about how Johnson uses XBox to stay in communication with friends and former teammates. Then it shifts to football and why he loves playing running back — from scoring touchdowns to takin hits.
