Four-time All-Star Boston Celtics point guard Kemba Walker put any lingering doubts about his knee to bed with his performance in the Celtics’ first-round sweep of the Philadelphia 76ers to bed last week, and with the defending champion Toronto Raptors heading Boston’s way in the next round, that’s a huge relief.
The former UConn star has been on a tear in the postseason, scoring 24.3 points, 4.3 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 1.3 steals per game while shooting 92% from the free throw line and 49.3 overall.
What’s more, he’s been defending at a high level since the playoffs began, his usually-excellent 3-point shooting the only ding on an otherwise electric start to his Celtics playoff career.
A career 36% shot beyond the arc, Walker has only made 29.6% of his 3s against the Sixers, whose unusually big and long starters may have played a role.
Sooner or later, the Bronx native will find his groove there, too — and with the Raptors one of the best teams Boston has faced this season, it will be needed.
