Kahwi Leonard addressed his free agency saga in an interview with Yahoo! Sports after he was introduced officially as a Los Angeles Clipper, and claimed that the Lakers were “close” to signing him.
While Lakers fans seem to feel like the reigning NBA Finals MVP left the purple and gold high and dry after leading the organization on, Leonard said this about the situation: “If they didn’t want to wait for me, they didn’t have to. They had a big opportunity to sign me. [The Lakers] were close, but I ended up on the other side.”
