The PGA Championship will be without one of its most recent winners when the tournament begins Thursday at Bethpage Black.
Justin Thomas withdrew Monday because of a right wrist injury. The 2017 PGA Championship winner tweeted out the following message with his decision: “Obviously, as a past champion, this tournament is extra special to me. It consistently has the strongest field in golf and I’m disappointed to not be among those competing this year but I’m optimistic about a return in the near future.”
Without the 26 year old, the PGA Championship will not become the first major field to include the entire Top 100 since the world rankings began in 1986. Kelly Kraft will take Thomas’ spot in the lineup.
