Josh Doig has been labelled Italy's answer to James Bond after Hellas Verona confirmed the signing of the Hibs defender.
The 20-year-old penned a four-year deal in Verona and becomes the latest Scot to secure a Serie A switch. He follows Lewis Ferguson, Aaron Hickey and Liam Henderson who have all swapped Scotland for Italy in recent seasons with Hickey reaping the rewards of his ambition by joining Brentford for a £15m fee less than two years later.
The former Hearts star is one player left-back Doig will be looking to emulate as he tries his luck in Italy. And it seems his new team are hoping he'll have the Goldeneye for an assist as they have greeted their new signing with a hilarious video.
Welcoming him as part of 'Hellas Verona's Secret Service', they've uploaded a clip featuring Doig suiting up over his Hellas training gear. Undercut with the iconic Bond theme music, he turns to the camera and says "my name is Doig, Josh Doig," before taking off into the car park with all the air of a secret agent.
Doig made 78 appearances at Hibs in total and managed seven assists - three of which coming in key games last season. He's been capped six times by Scotland Under-21s and will be hoping his move to one of Europe's biggest leagues can catapult him into contention for Steve Clarke's senior team.
The ranks at left-back are stacked currently with Hickey join Andy Robertson, Kieran Tierney and Greg Taylor in the senior set-up. But if Doig can force himself into the first-team and play regularly in Serie A then he may well be in the mix come September.
