Watch: Josh Allen has a teaching moment with rookie K’Lavon Chaisson

The Jacksonville Jaguars took another step in their COVID-19 adjusted training camp period Wednesday as the media was invited to watch practice and helmets went on for the first time. Unfortunately, there was one key player who had to work off to the side due to injury and that was first-round pick K’Lavon Chaisson, who was dealing with a minor hamstring injury.

Despite that, Chaisson was still apart of one of the moments of the day as he was seen soaking in some minor pass-rush tips from second-year pass rusher Josh Allen. First Coast News’ Mia O’Brien was able to catch some of the interaction between two in what was an eventful day for the team.

Chaisson and Allen have been building a strong relationship since the day the Jags selected the rookie out of Louisiana State. The rookie even went as far a calling Allen a role model to him a few weeks ago in his first media presser. The two began communicating early in the spring and even worked out together to help build a bond before training camp.

As pointed out by O’Brien, Allen taking Chaisson under his wing is reminiscent of how Calais Campbell took Allen in during the 2019 season. That helped propel him to great success as he beat the Jags’ rookie sack record (with 10.5 on the season), was in the running for Defensive Rookie of the Year, and went to the Pro Bowl.

With Campbell now gone, it’s good to see Allen taking his place as a leader and helping out his younger teammates. Heck, who knows, maybe Allen can help Chaisson have an identical rookie season, or maybe even a better one.
