WATCH Johnny Logan records rendition of 'Hold Me Now' for Bohemians ahead of FAI Cup final on Sunday

The League of Ireland has had its share of celebrity fans down the years but few have followed their club as closely as Johnny Logan.

Shamrock Rovers had Maureen O'Hara and Galway United can claim Uachtarán na hEireann Michael D Higgins, who was president of the club before expanding his hegemony to the entire country.

The late Martin McGuinness was a committed fan of his hometown club Derry City, while Westlife's Mark Feehily supports Sligo Rovers (and his brother Colin is the Bit o' Red's CEO).

2FM DJ Dave Fanning and the late Dermot Morgan laid their allegiance at UCD's door, while Colonel Gaddafi never did clarify which of Bohemians or St Patrick's Athletic he preferred.

The Saints boast a former Ireland manager in Brian Kerr, a mainstay on the Camac, and Bunk from the Wire, Wendell Pierce, who has taken the Inchicore side to his heart.

And while Bohs can call on the likes of WWE's Sheamus, Trainspotting novelist Irvine Welsh and musician Brush Shiels, none holds a candle to Eurovision heartthrob Logan.

The globetrotting singer has been a diehard Gypsy fan for decades and has lent his famous Eurovision-winning tune 'Hold Me Now' to the club as an unofficial anthem.

Logan won't be able to make Sunday's Cup final against the Athletic - their first in 13 years - in person but he will be following from afar.

And he recorded a good luck message for Keith Long and the Bohs players ahead of the Aviva Stadium date and threw in a few bars of 'Hold Me Now' for good measure.

The silver-haired seanchaí finished with a fist-pump and shouted 'up the Bohs' as he wished the Phibsboro side all the best for Sunday's showdown.
