Bill Belichick has called Johnny Hekker “a weapon” on numerous occasions and it’s easy to see why. He’s a fake-punt artist, regularly pulling off fakes for the Los Angeles Rams.
They executed one to perfection on Sunday against the Falcons as Hekker hit Nick Scott for a 23-yard gain. He initially lined up at his regular depth as a punter, but then moved closer to the line of scrimmage, took the snap and threw it to the rookie Scott.
Scott played running back his first year at Penn State before moving to safety, so he has ball skills and he showed them.
