There’s a heated battle going on for the fourth running back spot on the depth chart in Los Angeles and John Kelly is making a strong case for the 53-man roster. He’s once again run the ball well on Saturday night against the Cowboys, gaining 12 yards on his first four carries – including a 7-yarder.
On this particular reception, though, Kelly looked untouchable. He broke one tackle along the sideline and then put another defender on skates, dropping him to the ground with a deadly cut.

Kelly has some shiftiness to him in the open field, while also possessing good power. He can run over defenders or make them miss laterally, which is a good combination for a running back to have.
The Rams will have a tough decision to make when final roster cuts come because Kelly isn’t likely to be a player who slips through waivers and onto the practice squad if cut.
