It’s the new normal. The transfer portal is here to stay it appears, and with it, the ability of college football players to move about the country like a shell game has become easier and easier. Add that to so many transfers like Ohio State’s Justin Fields and Oklahoma’s Jalen Hurts that have done it with great success, and it only becomes more appealing.
With that in mind, you can bet there will be big-time contributions from transfers each and every college football season, including this 2020 one that appears set to kick-off on schedule .
To that end, the FOX College Football crew discussed which transfer will have the biggest impact for their team in 2020, and analyst Joel Klatt — who has very kind to Ohio State as of late — singled out Ohio State running back graduate transfer Trey Sermon from Oklahoma.
Next … What Klatt says about Sermon and Ohio State
Joel Klatt on Trey Sermon’s impact
“When I look at teams with championship aspirations,” Klatt said “Ohio State is clearly one of those, and replacing a guy like J.K. Dobbins is a huge task. Yes they’ve got Master Teague, and he’s a really good player. I think he would have started at most places in the Big Ten outside of Wisconsin last year. But they also get Trey Sermon guys.
“Trey Sermon, now, a transfer from Oklahoma — this is a really good player. Now all of a sudden you have a two-headed running back monster with Justin Fields. Watch out for a guy like Trey Sermon who could have a huge impact transferring to Ohio State and propel them to continue to be this potential best offense in the country like they’ve been the last few years.”
