After several years of waiting for his Hall of Fame call, former Jets center Kevin Mawae earned himself a spot in Canton.
While some retirees haven’t taken too kindly to their Hall of Fame snubs, Mawae views his experience in a different light. While phoning in for The Jim Rome Show on CBS Sports Network, the legendary center spoke about how even being considered for a gold jacket was an honor in itself.
Mawae was on the ballot for five years and had been a finalist for the past three before the Hall of Fame came knocking on his door. Now, there is no longer a debate as to whether or not Mawae is one of the game’s immortals.
Come enshrinement time in August, the former Jet will be adding a new honor to his collection.
