WATCH: Jets GM Mike Maccagnan fired, Adam Gase tabbed as interim GM

The New York Jets are moving on from general manager Mike Maccagnan.

Christopher Johnson, the team chairman and CEO, announced Maccagnan’s firing Wednesday morning, saying in a statement, “I came to the decision to make a change after much thought and a careful assessment of what would be in the best long-term interests of the New York Jets.”

Maccagnan served as the Jets’ general manager for four seasons, joining the organization in 2015. The team never made the postseason during his tenure – but he did secure a handful of intriguing players this offseason through free agency and the draft.

Head coach Adam Gase will serve as interim GM while the front office looks for a permanent replacement.
