Watch: Jerry Jones does the tourist thing, visits Bourbon Street

The people who own NFL teams tend to keep themselves out of the spotlight, content to sign checks and trust their employees to run the show. Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has done more than anyone else to buck that trend, making his public persona as much a part of the team’s brand as its logo and colors.

And Jones clearly knows how to have a good time. When the Cowboys came to town for a Sunday Night Football game with the New Orleans Saints, he went out Saturday to visit Bourbon Street with thousands of other tourists. But it’s safe to say few other visitors lining the street were greeted with fans chanting their name. Cowboys fans travel well.

Jones was spotted being paraded down crowded Bourbon Street by his security team, surrounded by raucous Cowboys faithful. Videos circulated on social media of him saluting the crowd late Saturday night.

Jones has made pilgrimages to New Orleans before, notably flying in during the 2016 offseason for dinner and drinks at Pat O’Brien’s in the French Quarter. As someone who appreciates a fun night out on the town, he’s clearly familiar with the area.
