WATCH: James Harden, Gary Clark lead Rockets in boxing workouts

Training camp for the 2019-20 NBA season doesn’t start for the Rockets until late September, but several Houston players are already making sure they’re in proper physical condition.

James Harden, Gary Clark, Danuel House, Isaiah Hartenstein, Ben McLemore, Chris Clemons, and Michael Frazier were among those shown in recent team workout footage on Instagram, with Harden, Clark, and Frazier taking swings and jabs in boxing gloves.

Harden, the NBA’s 2018 Most Valuable Player (MVP), finished second in 2019 voting after averaging a career-high 36.1 points per game last season, along with 7.5 assists and 6.6 rebounds. Now 30 years old, the future Hall of Famer is entering his 11th NBA season and his eighth as a starting guard for the Rockets.

Meanwhile, the 24-year-old Clark averaged 2.9 points and 2.3 rebounds in 12.6 minutes per game last season. Now entering his second NBA season, the 6-foot-8 forward from the University of Cincinnati is best known for his defense.

Most of the Rockets shown in the gym footage also worked out together in August on the basketball floor at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).

Houston begins preseason play for the 2019-20 season on Monday, Sept. 30 with a home game versus the Shanghai Sharks.
