Watch: Jags’ Chris Conley discusses the impact his mother had on his life

As talented as he is most would think Jacksonville Jaguars receiver Chris Conley has played football all his life, but he actually didn’t begin playing until high school. As a teenager, his mother wanted him to focus on his academics, which is a decision he commended her for as it has molded him into the person he is today.

In a Mother’s Day video released on the NFLPA’s Twitter account, Conley thanked his mom, Christina Conley, for helping mold him outside of football as she’s been his biggest supporter on the field, too.

It’s fitting that Christina stressed education to Chris being that she currently teaches at East Pauling High in Dallas, Ga. Needless to say, her guidance probably made it relatively easy for Chris to be academically prepared for the University of Georgia as fans know he certainly handled the athletic side well, too.

If all goes as planned with the Jags, she’ll probably get to see her son take the field as a starter again in Jacksonville as Conley is projected to be a top receiver for them. His familiarity with quarterback Nick Foles could also help him get significant time on the field as the two spent time in Kansas City together.
