As Jadeveon Clowney continues to wait to sign with an NFL team, he wants to show the Tennessee Titans, as well as his other suitors, just how ready he is to contribute in 2020 after having core surgery during the offseason.
This video of Clowney working on his pass-rush was uploaded to social media recently, and by the looks of it, the former No. 1 overall pick is definitely healthy.
The Titans are just one of many teams interested in Clowney’s services, as both general manager Jon Robinson and head coach Mike Vrabel have stated on multiple occasions.
However, the Clowney watch continues, as the free-agent pass-rusher continues to wait on teams to give him the best offer possible, which until now hasn’t happened with his market not panning out the way he hoped.
Clowney recently spoke to Josina Anderson and stated that he plans to sign with a team “before the season starts” and is “still open” because he hasn’t “narrowed down a final team” yet.
So, when can we expect a final decision?
We obviously can’t say for sure, but it would certainly make sense for Clowney to ink a deal before training camp starts, which will be on July 28 for most teams. That timeline to sign will also depend upon a team’s ability to bring him in for a physical.
Failing to do so would put Clowney at a disadvantage in getting ready for the season and getting off to a good start, especially if he signs with a new team — and that’s not a good approach if he hopes to have the kind of “prove-it” season that will garner him a mega deal in 2021.
As for the Titans, Clowney is the missing piece that could really put the team over the top thanks to his skill as a pass-rusher, and considering that the team continues to do nothing with it’s significant amount of cap space, it looks like it’s Clowney or bust at this point.
