WATCH: Is Luis Castillo the next Pedro Martinez?

Luis Castillo is garnering comparisons to Red Sox great Pedro Martinez after the young Cincinnati Reds pitcher’s stellar outing at his first MLB All-Star game this week.

Dodgers and NL All-Star Team manager Dave Roberts said he sees the similarities between the first-ballot Hall of Famer, and Martinez himself says that he can see a connection.

Martinez recalled that the first thing Castillo asked him about when they met was how to hold and slow down his changeup. Castillo clearly took to the advice — in the 2019 All-Star Game, he struck out two batters in mixing his 98 MPH fastball and 88 MPH changeup. The 26-year-old threw nine strikes in 15 pitches during his outing, drawing seven swings and misses which is the most of any of the 18 pitchers who appeared in the All-Star Game.
