Watch Irish man's satirical version of 'Come Out Ye Black and Tans' amid RIC commemoration fallout

A video of an Irish man's satirical take on the Republican ballad 'Come Out Ye Black and Tans' has gone viral online amid the current RIC commemoration fallout.

The video from Waterford man John Stack, 41, has racked up 90,000 views since being published on Wednesday night after work colleagues dared him to write it.

It comes after public anger forced the Government to 'postpone' a commemoration of the Royal Irish Constabulary (RIC) next month.

Leo Varadkar's Fine Gael came under huge criticism for their decision to hold the event due to the RIC's link to the infamous Black and Tans.

John Stack, an accounts manager from Dungarvan, said he isn't political but a dare from work colleagues persuaded him to write a satirical version of the Wolfe Tone's classic.

Holding a box of Barry's Tea and a tin whistle, Stack beats his makeshift bodhran and sings the new lyrics: "Come out ye Black and tans, so Fine Gael can shake your hands. All the murders that ye (Black and Tans) did they do not matter.

"Oh the powers that be they say we must honour you today. Oh my God what have you done Leo Varadkar."

The song continues on with satirical lyrics about the ongoing backlash.

Stack said: "A work colleague mentioned it to me pretty much daring me to write it so I did on my way home from work in the car.

"It's a bit crazy (The reaction). Especially seeing as I don't have a political bone in my body. Plenty of satirical ones though."

"As to why I used a box of Barry's Tea, the truth is I couldn't find my bodhran, and was looking for a box.

"I opened the press to make tea and there it was."

The song has been praised online with over 3,000 people sharing the video.

And the Wolfe Tones hit song has made its way back in to the charts reaching number 1 status on iTunes in both Ireland and the UK.
