Watch Irish League legend score goal for Salzburg in nostalgic video

Some brilliant footage has emerged of Glenn Ferguson scoring for Salzburg against Bayern Munich.

'Spike' will go down as one of the greatest ever strikers to grace the local game.

He made over 1,000 appearances for Ards, Glenavon, Linfield and Lisburn Distillery, scoring 563 goals along the way to write his name in the pantheon of Irish League legends.

It was during his time with Glenavon that Ferguson came close to joining Salzburg, going on trial with the Austrian side in 1996.

During his time with the club Spike played against German giants Bayern Munich, scoring in a 3-2 win at the Stadion Lehen.

The footage - from 90er TV YouTube channel - was shared on Twitter by freelance journalist Steven Beacom.

Ferguson would return to Northern Ireland and eventually sign for Linfield in a then record £55,000 transfer in January 1998.
