Watch Irish footballer John Egan celebrate Sheffield United's Premier League promotion with sing-song

Ireland's John Egan celebrated Sheffield United's promotion to the premier league with a passionate sing song at the club's awards night.

The team cemented their place for promotion to the top tier of English football next season after Leeds failed to beat Aston Villa on Sunday.

Egan stepped up to perform a song during the celebrations - singing the popular chant "Allez Allez Allez" but with his own, Sheffield United, twist.

The Cork man told the crowd: "If you go to a pub in Ireland, you have to have a song.

"And if you don't have a song you may as well not go to the pub at all.

"So in January I said to my better half, I said I have got a song.

"And I said we are going to the Premier League and when we get to the Premier League I'm going to sing this song and it goes to the tune of a Liverpool song... Allez, Allez, Allez."

The Irishman 's self-penned lyrics go down a treat with the team.

In the video, the players can be seen jumping up and down along with the chant - ecstatic to be promoted.

Ireland's John Egan, David McGoldrick and Enda Stevens will all be making their trade in the top flight of English football next season much to the delight of Irish manager Mick McCarthy.

Mick McCarthy has sent his congratulations to the players and has hinted at the prospect of introducing them all into the mix at his Portugal training camp in May.

Arsene Wenger fires Man Utd transfer warning ahead of summer overhaul

He said: "I'm so happy for David McGoldrick, Enda Stevens, John Egan and Scott Hogan.

"I'm relieved as well because it means the four of them will be fresh, fit and rearing to go when we report for the training camp in Quinta Da Lago on May 21st.

"David has had an incredible season and promotion is just reward for both himself and the team while Scott has certainly given me food for thought with his recent goals.

"He's worked hard to get back into the Blades team and is a contender for Denmark and Gibraltar now.

"We still have a number of players who could feature in teh Championship and league One play-offs, but having the Sheffield United contingent available for Portugal is a real help for the preparations for the two qualifiers."
