WATCH: Irish barber shop uses electric sign to send hilarious message to customers

Those of us who haven't given in and resorted to home haircuts will be pining hard for the barbers to open as hair grows unruly after three months of lockdown.

Barbers and hairdressers may get the go-ahead to open on June 29 - three weeks early - it has emerged.

The National Public Health Emergency Team (NPHET) is to recommend the move to Government, which is due to make a decision at a Cabinet meeting on Friday morning.

Originally planned for July 20, a positive decision would mean these businesses could start back up in just over 10 days' time.

And one barber in Clondalkin is clearly missing its customers and has sent a hilarious message to them using their electric sign.

Sean's Barbers genius message, written to the tune of Lionel Richie's classic 'Hello' has delighted locals.

It reads: "Hello, is it me you're looking for? I've been alone without you inside my shop and in my dreams I've chopped your mop a thousand times!!

"I sometimes see you pass outside my door!!

"Hello, I can see it in your eye brows, I can see it on your head.

"You're all I ever wanted in my shop and soon my doors will be open wide.

"I long to see the sunlight in your short hair. I've just got to let you know. Hello."

Local woman Grace Sharif took a video of the sign because she thought it was "brilliant".

And the mum-of-three told Dublin Live she can't wait to pay the barber a visit when it reopens.

She said: "My boys look like extras from the Beatles at this stage so I can’t wait for the barbers to open."

There will be plenty of mop-tops getting their mops chopped in the coming weeks and after their superb work we reckon we might ask Sean's Barbers to do the honours.
