Watch Internacional mock Gremio relegation fight with fake coffins as mass derby brawl erupts in Brazil

A brawl erupted in the Campeonato Brasileiro Serie A match between rivals Internacional and Gremio - with the latter brutally mocked in their fight against relegation in Brazil.

The 40-time Campeonato Gaúcho winners - who have won the Rio state championship title four years in a row - are threatened with Serie A relegation this year.

Gremio have lost six of their last seven games to leave them 19th in the 20-team league, seven points from safety.

Their latest defeat came against bitter rivals Internacional on Saturday, who are pushing at the other end of the league table.

Tensions boiled over as Taison's first-half goal proved enough to seal a 1-0 victory, with Internacional's Patrick and Gremio's Bruno Cortez sent off in the 95th minute.

Just as tensions were beginning to boil over on the other side of the football world, the home side pulled out fake coffins, parading and goading their enemies with as relegation looms.

Moments later, players from both sides make a break for the scene, as they looked to get involved.

Officials and coaches eventually got over to break things up, just when things threatened to get even uglier.

Gremio's next match comes against Fluminense.
