Watch: ‘Inside the Den’ returns for Lions 2020 training camp

The Detroit Lions media department is bringing back their yearly series “Inside the Den” for a behind-the-scenes look at the teams 2020 training camp and episode one takes a look at COVID-19 preparations.

Shot and produced in the style of NFL Films and HBO’s Hard Knocks, the Lions give fans unique access to the team, organization, and players.

The video opens up with a quick montage of the last six months, beginning with how COVID-19 started impacting sports, leading to a virtual draft, into a virtual offseason of Zoom meetings, a complete facility overhaul, and player testing.

The first in-depth portion of the video focuses on testing and the protocols the players and team personnel have to go through before being cleared to enter the building. That leads into players arriving and getting outfitted with their gear and participating in individual photo shoots. And caps with coach Matt Patricia’s appearance on NFL Network’s “Good Morning Football”.

The video shifts to Phase 1, where once medically cleared, players began their strength and conditioning portion of training camp on the practice field and in the weight room.

Overall this is a cool introduction through what the Lions did over the unusual first week of training camp and the next video will feature Phase 2 activities, which the players are currently in now, and will give fans a peek at non-padded football practices.
