Video captured the astonishing moment Emley Moor mast was hit by lightning during last night's thunderstorm.
The replacement mast at Emley Moor was hit during the huge storm that brought loud thunder and bright flashes of lightning across West Yorkshire just after 2am.
People across Leeds reported being woken by thunder claps and bolts of lightning - and stunning images of the iconic TV mast show it caught up in the storm.
Sarah Jones took one incredible image which captures the exact moment the strike hits the top of the mast.
Tim Sidwell also said video footage of the moment the mast was struck.
He said: "There was lots of thunder and lightning.
"It woke me and I managed to capture the moment the junior mast was struck.
"I very surprised my two very young children slept through it."
The storm in the early hours came following a day of scorching weather as a heatwave hit the city.
Today is set to be warm with top temperatures of 26°C but there could be further isolated thunderstorms.
Thursday is set to be a scorcher with top temperatures of 31°C by late afternoon and chance of more thunderstorms in the evening.
Friday 26 July will see temperatures of around 25°C, but Saturday 27 July and Sunday 28 July will be cooler with highs of 21°C and showers.
