Watch hyper David Tennant dance at Comic-con on energy drink buzz

He's the Scottish TV and film icon who has battled Dalecks, taken on Harry Potter and even investigated a series of grizzly murders.

But it appears David Tennant met his match at a comic convention after trying out an energy drink-fuelled coffee concoction before dancing off stage in suitably hyper fashion.

In a video posted online yesterday, the excitable Doctor Who star, from Bathgate , tentatively takes a sip from the Monster Coffee drink in front of an expectant crowd at the C2E2 event in Chicago.

With wide eyes, the 47-year-old takes a glug from the bottle before pulling a face, much to the amusement of his audience.

After taking a moment to consider his verdict on the sugar-filled beverage, he exclaims: "I mean, it's a bit like a milkshake!

David Tennant shocked by aubergine emoji's racy secret meaning in America

"It has quite a claggy aftertaste sensation, but you know, it's not as bad as it sounds."

More footage shows the Broadchurch star proceed to dance off stage to 500 Miles by the Proclaimers.

As the crowd cheers him on, Tennant waves his arms frantically as he exits while jogging.

Andfans loved the quirky actor's antics, but some took to Twitter to question organisers for giving the already hyper star.

Commenting on the video, user @TARDISsigma wrote: "He is all ready hyperactive! What were they thinking!"

While Katherine posted: "Like David Tennant needs an energy drink!"

Best known for his role as the 10th incarnation of Doctor Who, Tennant has become a Hollywood mainstay in major franchises like Harry Potter.

He also earned plaudits for playing DI Alec Hardy in the hit ITV crime drama Broadchurch.
