Watch how to pack up your festive road-trip stresses with these top tips

NISSAN has teamed up with travel expert Kate Simon to help motorists beat the strain of packing their cars for festive road trips.

The move comes after a survey for the Japanese marque found 65 per cent of people were stressed by having to load up their motors with luggage and gifts. And 26 per cent admitted they would sooner cancel Christmas than face packing the car.

But checking out a Nissan Qashqai, travel and packing guru Kate has come up with a guide to save yourself grief. Advice includes carrying out trial runs of packing the car, knowing your boot dimensions to avoid blocking the rear-view mirror, and using softer, squashy holdalls rather than hard suitcases.

Other tips are to stuff shoes with socks and toiletries, share luggage and items, utilise “hidden” car cubbyholes and pack in priority order.

Lonely Planet author Kate said: “Packing for the family road trip, where lifelong memories will be made, should be a fun activity for all to get involved in. So I was thrilled to partner with Nissan and showcase how one of the most popular family cars can help alleviate the stress this Christmas.”

Jean-Philippe Roux, chief marketing manager for Nissan Europe, added: “The Qashqai is designed for easy loading, through high-class innovation and design that positions families at the forefront.”
